Welcome to season 8 Episode 5 of The Sober Experiment Podcast by Bee Sober where Alex and Lisa chat with Bee Sober Book Club ambassador and sober coach, Jane Sproston.
Jane is a 52 year-old Mum of a 7 year old pocket rocket and got sober in 2017 after five years of trying and a long stint “moderating”. Jane previously had a drinking career of some 30 plus years. She survived student days, raving, and the ladette culture only to find herself using alcohol to cope and numb after lots of complicated trauma.
Jane’s journey has been full of highs, lows, twists and turns, including a period spent in The Priory, AA, an attempt at moderation, relapse and recovery.
Jane is now a qualified person-centred therapist (a journey which took 9 years instead of the usual 4) and a qualified sober coach and also volunteers as a counsellor for a Well woman’s centre.
Jane talks about her road to recovery, and how finding Bee Sober and becoming the book club ambassador finally helped her to find the connections she’d been missing.

Welcome to season 8 Episode 2 of The Sober Experiment Podcast by Bee Sober where Alex and Lisa chat with Vicki Rebecca.
TRIGGER WARNING: This episode discusses rape in significant detail
Vicki Rebecca has run a successful private Hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming practice that includes one to one therapy, both in-person and online, classes, retreats, live-in intensives, books and products since 1999. Since 2003 that practice has included retreats all over the world including Egypt, India, Turkey, the sacred sites of Scotland and more.
She wrote her first book: ‘The Me I Want To Be: Simple Shifts To Authentic Wellbeing’ initially for the clients and students she’d worked with for over twenty years. It was also a way of pulling all her knowledge together, but most of all she wrote it for those who could not manage to go along to sessions or classes because of cost or distance. It had always been a source of frustration to Vicki that she could not help them too. To make her work accessible to a larger audience she wrote the book and recorded over ten hours of instruction and guided journeys to accompany it.
In response to “The Me I Want To Be” when she has opened up during public talks, informal chats, and most especially her own realisation that a huge part of her sadhana IS to share her story, Vicky has now written her autobiography, no holds barred:
“Naked Truth: Diary of a Glamour Model” is a time document ranging from 1956 to today. The true story of a young runaway who made her way through the seedy photo booths of Soho of the 1970s into a career as a page three girl and Monroe lookalike. A broken heart left her fluctuating between stardom, drugs and despair and when she hit rock bottom a spiritual experience changed her life.
Vicki Rebecca has certainly lived!

Welcome to season 8, episode 1 of The Sober Experiment Podcast by Bee Sober where Alex and Lisa chat with Aodhan Benson.
A 25-year old who could be described as in somewhat of a quarter life crisis. After 12 years of masking the effects that the continuous partying/excessive drinking was having with overachieving and aiming to appear to have everything under control he couldn’t continue on the constant cycle of drinking - doing something stupid - feeling anxious and fearful only to do it all over again the following Friday. Aodhan had to step off the hamster wheel because he knew there was better out there and he wanted better for himself. He had moved abroad with hopes of starting afresh only for the problems with alcohol to soon reappear Aodhan had to say enough is enough and for once try and discover who he is behind the hangovers
